INSPIRATION FROM A PAST GENERATION
Personally I think the peak of fashion was in the 80s and 90s. I specifically focus on the more 'preppy' aspect of 80s and 90s fashion. I'm really inspired by movies like 'Clueless', it really captures my personal fashion Golden age.
Durning this time period 'Ivy League Style' heavily influenced all the fashion trends. As you can tell, plaid, knee high socks and skirts were insanely popular. You could describe the 80s and 90s preppy trends as a fashionable school uniform.
Throughout these years very casual dressing was an effortlessly glamorous trend. Paired with long tousled hair and minimal makeup. One celebrity who often sported this style was Mädchen Amick, who you can now see playing Alice Cooper in 'Riverdale'.
Another 80s/90s fashion influencer was Fran Drescher, seen in 'The Nanny'. Her style in 'The Nanny' really captured the retro style of 90s.
What I really like about 80s and 90s fashion was how broad it was. It can go from super casual to super zany. I think it really shaped the fashion trends we have today.
Nowadays people always revolved back to these 80s and 90s trends. For example the 90s holographic trend that flooded the nation last year.
My favourite trends for the 80s and 90s are definitely over the knee socks, Dark berry lipstick, plaid and them many effortlessly gorgeous hairstyles.
