The Future of Fashion

For as long as the fashion industry has existed, people find themselves idolising certain socialites , and even after these ‘Style Icons’ are gone they are still a major part of fashion history. For example Grace Kelly, Katharine Hepburn and Twiggy. They are all remembered for inspiring people during their time, and still continue to inspire.

During the 50s, fans of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe probably didn’t realise the impact their favourite celebrity would have for future generations. The little black dress may have never been popular if it weren't for the black Givenchy column gown that Audrey wore as Holly Golightly in ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’, or fashion for purpose of seduction may have never come around if it weren’t for Marilyn Monroe’s sultry style.

So we may be unknowingly watching and idolising people who will cause a ripple effect in the fashion industry, influencing people’s wardrobe for years after they’re gone.

For this post I decided to give a list of my PERSONAL predictions of todays young celebrities, who I believe have the potential to be considered iconic in terms of fashion in the future.

Rowan Blanchard | 17

Rowan Blanchard is best known for her role as Riley Matthews in Disney’s ‘Girl Meets World’. She is also a teen activist who discusses feminism, economic issues, mental health, gun control and sexuality.

Rowan has a very unique and high fashion sense of style. You can tell she has an appreciation for Haute Couture. She was declared as one of the best-dressed young actresses of her generation by W magazine, and I can’t help but agree.

Willow Smith | 18

Willow Smith is a singer, who kick started her music career at the age of 10 with her single ‘Whip My Hair’. She has released a multitude of music since then, including my favourite album ‘Ardipithecus’. And she’s collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj and SZA.

Willow was announced as an ambassador of Chanel in 2016 and has modelled in many luxury brand campaigns.

She is known for breaking fashion boundaries and norms, she often discusses her love of luxury clothes, so we know she’s also a fellow fashion fanatic. I especially love how she styles her hair and how she rocks unique makeup looks.

Elle Fanning | 21

Elle Fanning is an actress known for movies such as ‘Super 8’ and ‘Maleficent’. She has a very girly, pastel kind of style. Everything she wears is incredibly classy, elegant and feminine. She keeps her makeup ‘fresh faced’, always giving herself a youthful, angelic glow.

Suki Waterhouse | 27

Suki Waterhouse is a model, actress and entrepreneur. She’s modelled for Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry and Vogue. You may also recognise her from ‘Love Rosie’ and ‘Insurgent’.

I, among others, have been in love with Suki’s style for a while now. It’s sixtes mode and slightly grunge vibes are gorgeous together (so she has proved). She does tend to vary her style, but this is my favourite type of look on her.

Zendaya | 22

I’m sure you were all expecting this one. Zendaya is an actress who started her career on Disney Channel. He most recent projects have been ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and ‘The Greatest Showman’.

She has clothing lines in collaboration with Boho and Tommy Hilfiger. She describes her style as ‘fearless’, she enjoys getting inspiration from past decades and she says through fashion she gained a lot of confidence.

I personally like how Zendaya alternates between masculine and feminine styles. She always looks classy, elegant and well put together. Definitely and icon in the making!
